Kohande Tented Camp

Hello Journeyers and welcome to my very first post of my new series called "Affordable Fridays".
The name says it all, but for those who don't understand. Here I will share fun and affordable places that you can visit. I won't necessarily physically share places I've been to but it's still nice if you are on a tight budget like us to know about places that won't break the bank.

I have shared this place before HERE, but we were there just after winter and it was still dry and dull, yes that is right I'm talking about Kohande Tented Camp. We went again this year as we missed the bush atmosphere so much after our island holiday and well frankly we just enjoy the place. Plus it does look completely different with the trees and bushes looking thick, green and healthy.

About
"Kohandè is situated in the scenic LEEUWKLOOF VALLEY CONSERVANCY in GAUTENG, just north-east of PRETORIA (32km from Sefako Makgatho(Zambesi drive)) at DEWAGENSDRIFT – in the heart of DINOKENG- which makes it the ideal destination for nature lovers.
Three luxury tents with on suite bathrooms provide accommodation for 2 adults each (sorry, no children allowed). A fully equipped kitchenette with fridge/freezer makes self catering a pleasure. Each tent is private with its own lovely panoramic view over the bushveld where you can relax and enjoy the extraordinary sunsets and listen to the call of jackals."

It is perfect for weekend breakaways for people who live in Gauteng, it's approximately 105km from Johannesburg {according to Google Maps - so please don't shoot me if I'm wrong}. As you drive in there are a few antelope breeders {I think} so you see quite a few interesting animals. Like the Gold Wildebeest and White Blesbok for example. Which are both beautiful animals. Althoug once you go into Kohande you don't see any animals. But the noises of these very shy animals are very intense at night. At one stage I could have sworn one of them were right behind me at the boma area. haha
And once again we heard the lions at night. I loved that. That must be one of my favourite things while there.

The view from the pool is even more spectacular in summer. Everything is so green and we spent most of the day lounging next to the pool while playing card games.

Things to do
There's not much you can do in Kohande except relax. But you can go for a hike or do some birdwatching.
Some of the nearby attractions include the Lion Camp, Golf, Hot Air Ballooning or Day Spa.

Things that made me happy
It is extremely neat and clean and the owners are very welcoming and warm.
You can hear lions at night! {I told you this was my favourite}
The view from the pool is very nice.

Things that made me sad
I wish we saw more animals during the day.

The price is R300 per person per night and you have to stay a minimum of 2 nights.
