Brainy Fashionista....Siyaam Ally

Hello Journeyers!
We have reached the halfway mark of the week and I can say with all honesty I am happy! When your week starts with a blue Monday you just want it to end. :)
But at least for this months Interview I have the beautiful Siyaam from Simply Siyaam on the blog with me! I love reading her blog, she's a lady that juggles a full time job (this pretty lady is a lawyer), fashion blog, boyfriend and family! I'm struggling just to juggle my work and boyfriend, never mind blog too! haha
I love her sense of style and when I look at her I get this feeling of a Greek Goddess dying to break out! Her beauty radiates in her photos! And she's super friendly and sweet! I am very excited to meet her when she comes up to Joburg in October! But lets get this show on the road!

JS: So Siyaam, tell us a bit more about the woman behind the face of Simply Siyaam?
SS: I am first and foremost a family person. I love spending time with my parents, my sisters and my nephew and have made this a priority as I've gotten older. Away from the blog, I’m actually a bit of an introvert. I enjoy spending time on my own, watching series and reading.

JS: I would have never guessed an introvert! You have a successful career and you are a full time fashion blogger, where do you get all the time for this?
SS: I've always been a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to time management and diarising and I suppose my profession also requires it so it’s become quite second nature to me. I also love blogging so it never feels like a chore when I’m doing it! At this point in my life, I’m not married and I don’t have any children so my time is all my own.

JS: I need to come to you for some lessons! How would you describe your fashion sense/style?
SS: Despite indulging in trends now and again, I’d say my style is always ladylike and feminine. Whether I’m wearing casual jeans or an evening dress, I always try to keep it elegant and classy.

JS: I love your style, but you always look like a million bucks, what's your top beauty secret?
SS: Thank you! A lot of my skincare tips come from my Dad who is 75 years old and doesn’t look
it at all!
a) Whatever you apply to your face, apply it to your neck and chest as well! You don’t want
your skin to look different in those areas.
b) Eat a quarter piece of cucumber without the peel daily or every second day. It is excellent
at ‘cooling’ down the body and the difference will show in your skin.
c) I personally don’t find that big a difference in results between expensively priced skincare
products and those that are more reasonable. Just use what works for you. I’ve been
using Ponds for years which is affordable and works well with my skin.

JS: WOW, I must try that cucumber trick. :) You also just added "Personal Shopper" to your resume. WOW! How pleased was your first client and what made you decided to start this?
SS: I had been approached by quite a few women about assisting them with shopping when I first started my Blog last year. At that stage, I didn't feel I had the experience or confidence to take  that on. After blogging for a year and a half, I feel I now have a much better of what personal style is about as my own style has personally developed as well. I've now started a service of assisting clients with shopping, organising wardrobes or just general style consultations as well. My first experience as a personal shopper went very well and I think it’s definitely something I’m interested in continuing to do.

JS: Well whenever I go to Cape Town again I must just hire you for a day. Where do you see yourself, career and blogging wise, in 5 years time?
SS: Everything about this last year has just been completely unexpected and unplanned. I never anticipated that the Blog would become as successful as it has and this has forced me to review of a lot my plans for the future. I can’t really say at this point what the future holds but I am hoping to do a lot less law and a lot more fashion ;)

JS: I know the answer, but to everyone else who will be reading this, (especially the guys). Tell us, is Siyaam off the market or do the men out there still have a chance? Hehe
SS: Completely off the market ;)

JS: Sorry boys! What is the best advice that you have ever received in your life so far?
SS: The best advise I've ever received is not to give up what you want the most for what you want now. It’s difficult and requires inner discipline (something I’m still cultivating!) but if you have put the bigger picture before your immediate wants, you are more likely to succeed in life.

JS: What has been your best holiday memory to date?
SS: So many! But snorkelling in the beautiful clear waters of Similan Islands in Thailand certainly
stands out for 2013.

JS: That's still on my bucket list! Please share your 5 happiest moments in pictures with us.

WOW how great is she? So if you want to see more of her please go visit her blog, follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter

I hope you guys enjoyed this months Journey Interview! Please leave your comments and suggestions below and I will reply to each and every one of them! Promise!
Be safe!

Mossel Bay - Quick Weekend Breakaway

Hello Journeyers! WOW we are more than halfway through August. And finally our busy schedule will die down a bit. Till November. But I'm not complaining! That only means that I can finally catch up on all the washing and house work! Finally! You know how bad it is when you get excited about doing laundry!
But first let me tell you about our weekend. Thank goodness I have a great boss and he said I can leave at 2:30 pm so that we can be on time for our flight! And as Murphy has it, we were extremely early and the flight was delayed by 30 min. So we sat and waited and waited some more!
We arrived safely and were off for dinner with the Parentals (as my cousin calls them) and my BFF (who also spoiled me to a super early bday gift) and her husband. (they are also our travel buddies for December) Cedric and I have been wanting to go to this restaurant since our December holiday last year and that's why we decided that we WILL go for dinner there. Cafe Gannet it is! :)

And this is how you receive your bill! haha
The company and the food was out of this world and service was great! The problem started when we walked out of the restaurant! Freezing wind hit us all leaving us catching gasping for breath! Well it wasn't that bad but I added some drama to it. *drama queen*

The Saturday morning Cedric had a meeting at Fancourt and once back home we packed our overnight bags and off we went to stay at my aunts house at Gondwana Game Reserve.
The house is beautiful and open with views you fall in love with. The only thing I was a bit worried about was that the Game roam freely and well I would not be happy when face to face with a lion. No thank you! But luckily for me the wind and freezing weather did not want to leave so we were indoors the whole time. Except for our own mini Game Drive that we went to go do. We didn't see much, a few Zebra's, Impala, Oryx and Giraffes.

We had a nice braai and made a nice fire to try and heat up the house a bit. But I think the alcohol helped more. hehe. The next morning we took it slowly and slept late and packed at our own pace. Unfortunately Joni picked up a tummy bug and was man down since that morning. (I hope that by the time she reads this she's feeling much better) My dad, Cedric and myself decided to go for a drive and a light lunch in town and we were entertained by the wind and waves playing against each other! I love the ocean!

And then the moment that I always dread. Goodbyes. I hate them! But it has to happen. So thank you to the Parentals for a amazing weekend and to my Boo for making it extra special by just being there! I love all of you!
Till next time!

{Link Up} Six Things...

Hello my lovely Journeyers!
I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend (I know that the lady who I'm linking up with today had a great weekend, didn't you?)! Today I am linking up with Jenna over at A Home Away from Home! She did a fun "Six Things" post and tagged myself to link up with her. All I had to do was choose 6 of the questions that she added to her post and answer them. This way you also get to know me a bit better. :)

Name the top three places on your travel bucket list.  Why do they make the list?

Botswana: We bought a Defender to go and explore Africa, and well Botswana is nr.1 on our list to go and explore! I cannot wait to see the wildlife and African Sunsets!

(Images thanks to Google)
Maldives: I want to relax on the beach with a cocktail and go swim in those crystal clear blue waters! Heaven on earth I would say! :)

(Images thanks to Google)
New York: I want to go and experience the hustle and bustle of that busy city and the amazing shops! (think I have to start saving)

If you had to choose to be blind or deaf, which one would it be and why?

This was a difficult one because I am fortunate enough to be able to see and hear perfectly. So how do you choose? And after thinking about this for a while I decided that I would rather be deaf. I can live without hearing, but not seeing the beauty of the people that I love and the wonders of the bush or life itself. I would not be able to live without that.

What does your idea of a perfect weekend look like?

The bush of course! Sitting next to a fire, watching the sunset and listening to all the sounds of the wild. Amazing!

Pick one: Cruise through Antarctica or Cruise through the Caribbean?

Caribbean hands down! I'm horrible when it comes to the cold! And Antarctica just sounds too cold. But I still want to go and experience a ski trip! (you can see that I'm a Libra)

Which blogs are you loving right now?

My favourite ones at the moment are:

A Home Away From Home
Arum Lilea
Clarita Smit
Changingshoes Blog
Indie Berries
Kandy Kane Love
Simply Siyaam
Vanilla Blonde
Fash Boulevard
Mel's Corner
The Sun House
Purple Lips and Perfect Smiles
Gee Whiskers

I have so many others but these are the ones that stand out to me!

If someone is thinking about starting a blog, what advice would you give them?

Do it because it makes you happy and know that to get followers takes time and kinda hard work! I WISH my followers count can be in the 4 digits but it's harder than it looks. And be true and honest and yourself! People see straight through you faster than you can say Zoooom! But most important just enjoy it! I love blogging! And even though my followers grow slowly. I don't do it for them at the end of the day. I do it for myself.
And now I give it over to you guys!
I am tagging the following 6 ladies:

Arum Lilea//Kandy Kane Love//Simply Siyaam//Vanilla Blonde//The Sun House// Gee Whiskers

Your 6 Questions are:

1) What has been your most memorable holiday to date?
2) If you could have any job in the world, which one would it be and why?
3) What would be the perfect way for you to spend your birthday?
4) What is your favourite food?
5) How do you feel about South Africa and would you ever move out of the country?
6) Do you follow beauty and fashion trends and why / why not?

(Stole this from Jenna) Not tagged?
I would still love it if you linked up or answered your favorite question in the comments section below.
Be sure to send me the link to your post if you decide to do a post of your own!

Cannot wait to read your posts ladies!!!
And I will update you on our freezing weekend break tomorrow! :)
