Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve

Hello Journeyers!
I know I completely missed Monday, my bad! But I did not forget about you! Today I will be doing a little recap of our weekend. What a fun weekend! We did one thing both days! Yes ONE thing! You must be thinking how boring that is! Indeed NOT....
Saturday morning we slept in a bit, and after a whole week of only going to bed after 11:30pm I think I deserved that 10 am sleep! So please don't judge me! :)
We got dressed, hopped in the Mo-Landy (yes we named our Defender) and off we went to the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve. I always love going there! It's close by and you know you will at least always see 1 of the Big 5!

I must admit the Entrance Fee is a bit steep, but they have to pay the bills some how. While driving we saw multiple antelopes, from Impala, Springbok, Oryx, Black Wildebeest, Ostriches, Elands, Buffalo (Big 5 = tick), Wild dogs, White Lions (they just fed them as we arrived), Zebra and the list goes on and on.
But the thing I was most excited about was the fact that I was FINALLY going to play with the Lion Cubs!
You pay R30 pp and you can play with them for 5 min. Dream come true! They are so cute. They had 2 camps, one camp had White Lion Cubs that was 4 months old and the other camp had 3 Brown Lion Cubs and 1 White Lion Cub that was 7 months old. We decided to go into the bigger cubs camp.
They are so cute, although they were very lazy when we got there. I just wanted to stay there and never leave. Those 5 min flew by and I was not very happy when the guy told us time up. Boooo!
Anyway, while driving taking photo's of the animals, all Cedric could hear was me moaning "Baby I need a better camera, I can hardly zoom with my "mik en druk"! So he took the camera from me thinking I was exaggerating. Surprise!!! I was not! So off we went to Dion Wired and I GOT MY CAMERA! What a great deal! We bought the Nikon D3100 which was on special. It included the camera, a 18-50mm lens, 55-200mm lens, Binoculars, Adobe Photoshop Kit and a Bird Book.

Sunday morning I was off, on the road and ready to pick up Landan, because guess what. We were so excited about the camera we thought another trip to the Rhino and Lion Park would be in order. Plus we get to test the camera. Bonus!
I must say, while I'm still busy trying to figure out what Aperture and Shutter speed means, I'm slowly getting the hang of my new beauty!
On our way and happy!

And there you have it, this is what we did the whole of Saturday and Sunday! It was so much fun and I would recommend it to anyone! :)

So, what did you guys do this weekend?
Happy Tuesday!!!

  3. Looks like a fun weekend!
We need a new camera - our Canon is just too old.
I have never been to the Lion & Rhino park and really must get out there.
Were you also surprised at how lions are not soft and fluffy like kittens?
