{Travel} St Brandon Islands Mauritius

Good morning all you crazy Journeyers,
I am going back in my Archive folder of photos now I swear, but only because I am busy backing up all my documents. So bare with me!
I asked Cedric if he would like to contribute to OUR blog but turns out he is not very fond of writing.
So here I am playing stand in for Cedric! hehe

Here goes, last year May (2011) Cedric received a phone call from a friend in Mauritius to find out if he will be joining them for a boys week! Obviously I told him he HAS to go as this is a once in a lifetime experience and opportunity.
They were gone for 10 days, and this is only the amount of days they spent on the ocean and islands. WITH NO CELLPHONE RECEPTION!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!! You know what that meant, no hearing from my Cedric for almost 2 weeks! Must say that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but hey I survived it!
Anyway back to Cedric. After 36 Hours on a Catamaran they finally reached the islands.

Let me quickly fill you in about this breathtaking place - St Brandon Rocks are a group of about 16 small islands and islets on an extended reef in the Indian Ocean northeast of Mauritius. The reef measures 50km from north to south, and is 5km wide, cut by three passes. The islands have a small transient population, mostly fisherman. In 2000 there was only 63 on the census night.

They spent their days fishing, fishing, surfing, fishing, eating the fish they caught and relaxing.

Doesn't that sound heavenly? When I saw the pictures I could feel the big green jealous monster creeping up on me! I've never seen such a stunning place! The water is crystal clear, and when I say crystal I mean crystal!

He had the time of his life and I think if they phoned him again he wouldn't even think twice about going! They stayed on the Catamaran, but there is a little house on one of the islands where you can actually stay in. This place is really what you call pure untouched beauty and perfection!

Hope you enjoyed your day dream trip to this magical place!

{Travel} Durban July Flashback!

Seeing as this weekend it's that time of the year again I thought why not share our experience with you from last year.
Unfortunately we will not be going this year as we are going to Paris end of the month.
Anyway, back to last year.
We decided to go to the Durban July 2011, and what an amazing event!

For those of you who don't know what the Durban July is, it's our yearly Horseracing event in South Africa, we actually have 2 of them a year, one in Durban (Durban July) http://www.vodacomdurbanjuly.co.za/event.html. and the other in Cape Town (J&B Met) http://www.jbmet.co.za/

This is just an excuse for us to Dress up and have fun and of course do some betting! (Fail hehe)

Anyway what a memorable weekend! We had so much fun! We were in the 5FM Miller Dark Horse Marquee (Pic Below) The big tent in the middle was actually a dance floor that they opened later the night with all the top 5fm DJ's and some great music groups. Only not so fun part was they mostly only sold beer - Miller's obviously, but Cedric was happy about that, it's all he drinks!

We left the Friday and came back the Sunday, Durban is a 5hour drive from Johannesburg but well worth it!

I wish we could go again this year, but hey, good excuse to work on the perfect outfit for next year's Durban July!
Seeing as we decided last minute to go to the event we quickly through outfits together, quick tip that someone gave me and I am so glad the told me, GIRLS NO HEELS!!!!!
Unless you hate the shoes and want to destroy them with grass, mud and dust.

So if you ever come to South Africa over that period or are in South Africa now, do yourself a favour and go to the Durban July!!! Remember to go look at  http://www.georgie-b.co.za/  for some great outfit pieces that will help you stand out in the crowd at the Durban July!!!!

{Travel} Day Dreaming - Cape Town 2011

Hello fellow bloggers!
My mind is wandering back to my birthday last year.
Cedric had to go to Cape Town for work over my birthday and he decided to take me with.
My parents decided to come up for the weekend to also spend some time with me as they live in Mossel Bay.
I love Cape Town and wouldn't mind moving there! It is such a beautiful place!

We were lucky with the weather as it was boiling hot with no wind, and only the morning we left we had some bad weather (cloudy with rain). But who cared as that was the day we left.
We had so much fun, spending time with family!
We were there from a Thursday - Sunday, my parents arrived the Friday and while Cedric was working we just drove around.
And had the yummiest lunch at this cute little restaurant in Fish Hoek called "Wild Olive". Sorry this was long before my blog so I did not take any pictures of the place.

What a birthday! Cedric always exceeds himself when it comes to my birthday! I am so lucky to have him!

Hopefully Cape Town will see us soon! Fingers Crossed!
