If you are in South Africa I hope you had a great long weekend! When Ced's mother was here on our way back from our bush break we stopped in Hartbeespoort or Harties as most of us call it. I thought it would be fun to go up on the mountain with the Aerial Cableway Hartbeespoort as I've never only read about it but never did it.
We were lucky enough to arrive just before the rush and only waited about 10min in line. The view from up there is absolutely beautiful! The ride to the top is also surprisingly smooth.
At the top you can sit and enjoy a nice drink or a nice refreshing lunch at the self-service express restaurant up top or if you don't have the stomach to eat up high you can try Bugatti restaurant at the base station while taking in the breathtaking view from up high or down low. We only stayed for a drink as in winter it gets rather cold. You can also arrange for a picnic basket and have a nice picnic on the grass while admiring the view from up high.
Loved the "high" so much? Buy yourself a little souvenir at The Little Shop at the Top and if shopping is not your "thing" then test your adrenaline levels and do some paragliding from the mountain.
It's your birthday? Well just bring along your Identification Document and you get a FREE cable car ride! *Mental Note-go back on my birthday*
I can just imagine having a exclusive birthday party on the mountain. OR imagine celebrating your engagement there. They have conferencing and events venues, with the main venue being able to seat 300 people. That's impressive!
I loved the experience, and the thrill of being taken up high. I would go do this again any day.

I am a bit afraid of hikes but love aerial cablecars and gondolas as they are usually a very smooth ride. Looks like a fun day out.
